Greening Business Education

Toward an Ecocentric Pedagogy

The rise of environmentalism has created new demands on business corporations. The public now expects companies to deal with a host of problems involving environmental protection, worker and public safety, and health risks emerging from corporate activities. If managers are to cope with these new challenges, their education and training must be revised appropriately. Management education must provide appropriate values, conceptual frameworks, and technical information-as well as skills-needed to manage effectively in an increasingly green world. This article explores the possibilities for greening business education by articulating a conception of "eccentric pedagogy."
